5 Steps to Spring Clean Your Living Room
Ahhh, spring cleaning. Two words most of us Canadians despise. With every season comes house cleaning, but we have to admit that spring cleaning might be the least fun of them all. Why? Because there’s so much dust. Everywhere. But hey, you have to get it done, and luckily, the weekend is not too far away. Take advantage of that time to give life to your lovely living room. Once you are done cleaning it, you’ll be able to relax on your Cozey sofa all day, every day. Because we want to help you out the most possible, this week’s Top Five Friday proposes 5 steps to spring clean your living room. You’ll see, they’re pretty simple, and you’ll fall in love with spring cleaning.
First things first, gather boxes you don’t want anymore, and label them “donate”, ”keep”, and “trash”. You want to start decluttering the space and ensuring that every object you can find in your living room belongs there. While you’re decluttering, look for things that belong to other rooms, and gather them together to allocate them to their respected spaces later in the day. You might struggle at the part where you have to decide what to keep and donate, but if you think it’s cluttering your space, then you probably don’t need it.
Dust it Off
Start by removing every painting, mirror, and other thing hanging off your wall. Then, dust your ceiling, corners, window frames, walls, window sills, and baseboards with a duster. We recommend that you find a long-handled duster for this part since attaining high areas will be much easier and productive with one. This dusting procedure, from top to bottom, will ensure that you get all the dust and dirt down to the ground so that you can get it out of your room quickly, hassle-free.
Give Life to Your Sofa
Your sofa sits in the same space every day, for years and years. Chances are, it collects a lot of dust. This is why, and where dusting your sofa comes in handy. We recommend taking your Cozey sofa’s covers off and bringing them outside. Give them a good beating with a clean broom and let them air out. While your covers are outside, take advantage of that time to move your sofa and dust the wall behind it, and vacuum the floor under it before returning your sofa to where it belongs.
Make Your Windows Shine
Ahhh, shiny windows. Nothing beats them. Clean your windows using our good old friend, Windex, or make your own window cleaner. Instead of spraying the product directly on the window, we recommend applying it on the cloth and then buffering the surface. Our preferences, but you can do it the way you like, as long as these windows shine by the end of the day!
Vacuum and Finish Off
Vacuum your hardwood floors, carpet, and area rugs. Rug-wise, we recommend that you bring them outside and beat them out beforehand, just like you did with your sofa covers. This way, you make sure that the biggest chunks of dirt are gone, and all the excess will be taken off with the vacuum. We recommend that you mop your floors right after vacuuming for the cleanest, shiniest final result.
